And new aquaculture technologies were gradually applied to an increasing number of species. At present, it is said that about 3. Japan; a part of those comprise most of the domestic production and so on. Readbag users suggest that Yearbook-2002-2003.pdf is worth reading. The file contains 60 page(s) and is free to view, download or print. This is a glossary of terms used in fisheries, fisheries management and fisheries science. So The Aquaculture Summit 2. Track 1: Aquaculture Technology and Engineering Applications. Fish and other seafood represent an abundant and increasingly important source of healthy food for a growing world population. Observing and understanding the dynamics of the oceans as well as managing, harvesting and culturing its resources in sustainable ways require knowledge and smart technological solutions. Now a days research on fisheries and aquaculture systems focuses on how engineering cybernetics and its accompanying enabling technologies such as automatic control, smart sensors and monitoring systems, can be applied to better understand the processes of the sea and enhance the design and operation of marine biological production and harvesting systems. Important topics include systems biology, mathematical modelling of biological processes and production systems, aquaculture process control, underwater robotics, marine instrumentation and aquatic telemetry.
Track 2: Advances in Aquaculture Nutrition: Freshwater fish species account for almost 5. These species are cultured in numerous countries as they have adaptable feeding habits, respond well to a wide variety of culture technologies and are well accepted by consumers. All three species can be easily reared on commercially produced floating feeds. Feeds not only represent one of the primary production costs and source of nutrients but they are also the primary source of pollutants that contribute to poor water quality and disease occurrences. Understanding the nutrient requirements, optimizing commercial feed formulations and managing feed inputs are all critical to the continued success of the industry. This chapter will review current concepts on nutrient requirements, pre- and probiotics, the options of using incomplete feeds as well as current trends in feed manufacturing. Track 3: Diseases in Aquaculture. Infectious diseases pose one of the most significant threats to successful aquaculture. The maintenance of large numbers of fish crowded together in a small area provides an environment conducive for the development and spread of infectious diseases. In this crowded, relatively unnatural environment, fish are stressed and more susceptible to disease. Moreover, the water environment, and limited water flow, facilitates the spread of pathogens within crowded populations. Track 4: Aquaculture Economics. The economics of aquaculture is reviewed on two levels: micro and macro. Micro- economics in aquaculture deals mainly with the management measures and elements affecting the efficiency of operation at the farm level, while macro- economic addresses the assessment of social benefits and costs of an aquaculture project. If aquaculture is socially beneficial but unattractive to private investors, public support on credit, marketing, extension, training, and research may be appropriate, especially during the early stages of development. The importance of economic analysis is emphasized since it provides a basis not only in the decision making of the individual farmer, but also in the formulation of aquaculture policies. Thus, greater attention should be focused on the improvement of economic data for analysis. Track 5: Aquatic Resources & Environment Management. Asia contributes over 9. Aquaculture production accounts for almost half of world fish supply and increases by 1. It is expected to surpass capture fisheries production in the next 1. Further development of aquaculture is also expected to help us move away from dependence on overexploited capture fisheries resources and to enhance and conserve aquatic habitats and biodiversity; but this expansion should not exceed the carrying capacity of water resources. Wild aquatic resources are essential sources of nutrition for rural populations. Any degradation of these resources from over- fishing, use of illegal fishing gears, introduction of exotic fish, misuse of chemicals, agro- industrial waste discharge, deforestation, breeding ground degradation and dam construction that can lead to blocking of migratory pathways will have dramatic impacts on the nutritional and health status of rural people. Track 6: Biotechnology and Genetics in Aquaculture: Biotechnology is permanently linked not only to aquaculture but also to commercial and recreational fisheries, because of its potential positive and negative impacts on these resources. A brief account of the history of genetic biotechnology use in aquaculture and fisheries. The growth of worldwide aquaculture has been sustained and rapid, and the explosion of research in genetic biotechnology has made significant impact on aquaculture and fisheries, although potential for much greater progress exists. Aquaculture and Fisheries Biotechnology: Genetic Approaches covers topics essential to the study of fish genetics, including qualitative and quantitative traits, crossbreeding, inbreeding, genetic drift, hybridization, selection programs, polyploidy, genomics and cloning. This fully updated second edition also addresses environmental risk, food safety and government regulation of transgenic aquatic organisms, commercial applications of fish biotechnology and future issues in fish genetics. Track 7: Asian fisheries management. The Asia- Pacific Fishery Commission, originally called the Indo- Pacific Fisheries Council is a Food and Agriculture Organization Article XIV Regional Fisheries Body which covers fisheries, aquaculture and related aquatic resource issues in the Asia- Pacific region. APFIC functions as a Regional Consultative Forum raising awareness amongst member countries, fisheries organizations and fisheries professionals in the Asia- Pacific region. In recent years, APFIC has covered a range of regional fisheries issues, including co- management of fisheries, low value/trash fish (may be referred to as bycatch where not targeted catch) in the region, illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and fishing capacity management, certification in fisheries (e. Most recently work has focussed on developing a training course for Ecosystem Approach to Fishery Management and guidelines for tropical trawl fisheries management. Track 8: Fish Biology: Immunology, Physiology & Pathology: Aquatic immunology compacts with disease problems represent the largest single cause of monetary losses in aquaculture. In 1. 98. 8, catfish producers lost over 1. Estimates for 1. 98. The trout industry reported 1. No data are avail on losses sustained by producers of shellfish. Bacterial infections constitute the most significant source of disease problems in all the diverse types of production. Gram- negative bacteria cause epizootics in nearly all cultured species. Fungal diseases constitute the second most essential source of losses, above all in the culture of crustaceans and salmon. External protozoan parasites are accountable for the loss of huge numbers of fry and fingerling fin fishes and are a cause of epizootics from all young shellfish. The number of therapeutants approved by the Food and Drug Administration is limited. Invention to support the registration of promising therapeutic agents is urgently needed. Track 9: Oceanography: Fisheries oceanography can be broadly defined as study of the interaction between marine fish and their environments across multiple life- history stages. Traditional fisheries management approaches estimate population abundance levels as a function of the number of spawning adults without environmental or ecological input, but the field of fisheries oceanography has provided a framework to predict recruitment and define harvest strategies within an ecosystem context. By seeking to elucidate mechanistic relationships between fish species and their surrounding oceanic habitats, the field of fisheries oceanography aims to provide a solid understanding of fish behaviour, population dynamics, and life history with an ecosystem perspective. Track 1. 0: Freshwater and Marine Fisheries/Aquaculture: Freshwater aquaculture produces species that are native to rivers, lakes, and streams. Like in Agriculture, in fish culture also, the water body is prepared, fertilised, stocked with cultivable fish species, fed with supplementary food and grown to bigger size and ultimately harvested when they attain marketable size. Fish Culture is being one of the most productive culture practice, therefore, fish culture is very common and widely practised in most of the countries of the world. This fish culture practice do not only produces nutritious food - fish for the improving nutritional status but also helps in generating income and provide job opportunities to the mass of the people. The fish culture is comparatively easier, thus a person affords to look after larger production areas in compare to other agricultural activities. Moreover, by this practice system, fish is produced at low and lower cost and the increased production give economic benefit to the grower. The construction of a water body in the form of small or big pond do not only facilitates to carry fish culture but it also helps in conserving water to use as per the need arises e. The fisheries management authority and the interested parties. The fishers and fishing companies would usually be the major participants amongst the interested parties. The fisheries management authority is that entity which has been given the mandate by the State (or States in the case of an international authority) to perform specific management functions. A few personal observations about why I like Zig Ziglar, what I learned from him, and why I included his work in this website. Who is Zig Ziglar? Zig Ziglar (November 6, 1. November 2. 8, 2. Hillary Hinton Ziglar in Coffee County, Alabama. Zig was one of the most recognizable names in self- help, self- improvement, and personal development. From 1. 97. 0 until his passing, he brought his distinctive brand of optimism, enthusiasm, and humor to countless seekers of a better life. When Zig was five, his family moved from Alabama to Yazoo City, Mississippi. The next year, Zig’s father, John, nicknamed “the Judge,” died. Lila, Zig’s mother, raised Zig and his 1. Zig attended the University of South Carolina. He became a cookware salesman and struggled for two years.“Not that I didn’t sell anything,” Zig quips. Merrell, president of Wearever Aluminum, for which Ziglar sold cookware, told him “I’ve never seen such a waste.” Ziglar relates “That will get your attention.”Merrell told Zig that if he would just believe in himself and go to work, he could be a champion. Within a year, Ziglar went from barely surviving to No. He later reached the No. In 1. 97. 0, Zig went into the motivational speaking business full- time. On July 4, 1. 97. Zig turned his company over to his son Tom and his son- in- law Richard K. That same year, Zig fell down a flight of stairs and suffered short- term memory loss. In 2. 00. 8, Zig, Jean “The Redhead,” and their family attended the dedication of the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. The center’s mission is to teach ethical leadership based in part on Zig’s teachings. Until shortly before his passing, Zig still did 4. As he put it, “I’m not going to shut up until I’m called up.”Why I Like Zig Ziglar, What I Learned from Him, and Why I Included Him in this Website. I like Zig Ziglar because he is utterly without guile. He is the quintessential WISIWIG (What You See Is What You Get) in the personal development industry. You get the sense of who he is even if you will never spend any time with him. And his sense of humor is as entertaining as it is endearing. I learned two things from Zig: An appreciation of the selling profession. A sense of what personal development can do and why it is important. I first encountered Zig in 1. He extolled the virtues of the sales profession. Up to that point, I had never thought of selling as more than lying. And the purpose of selling was to get money from someone in exchange for something they did not want much less need. So Zig started me on quite a different life path. He helped me begin to understand the selling profession as something very different from what I learned in my earliest years. Zig was the first motivational speaker I ever heard. He started me on a life- long path of self- improvement and personal development. Like so many others, I heard his story and came away with hope for mine. And that’s why self- improvement is so important. If nothing else, it conveys hope at a time when someone may feel hopelessness. And then he or she will realize that hopelessness is really a momentary lapse. However, I do not include Zig in this website for sentimental reasons alone. At this writing, he is in his eighties and is something of an institution. And this is with good reason. I included him because a certain kind of person will resonate with the Christian element of his teachings. And you can get a lot from his talks even if you don’t ascribe to the particulars of his beliefs. And one more thing. His emphasis on family life and its effect on your performance in the marketplace is important. Can you succeed without a happy home life? Well, you can make a lot of money. There is enough evidence of that. Whether you would call that “success” as Zig uses the word is another matter. And the extent to which you would enjoy the money and the peace of mind it should foster is open to question. Video #1 – Zig Ziglar Quotes: “See You at the Top” Wisdom. In this first video, I collected seven Zig Ziglar quotes that are easily recognizable to his fans. And they present a thumbnail version of his philosophy. Here are the quotes in this video: Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the “gotta have it” scale. You do not pay the price of success, you enjoy the price of success. People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily. Confidence is going after Moby Dick in a rowboat and taking the tartar sauce with you. It is not your aptitude, but your attitude, that determines your altitude. You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real. If you don’t see yourself as a winner, then you cannot perform as a winner. If you want to reach a goal, you must . He also understands failure. He redefines and reframes what some call “failure.” He does so in ways that change your state of mind in a flash despite setbacks. Take just one of the quotes from this video to heart. You insure that your future will only hold bright successes and stepping stones on the way to those bright successes. Here are the quotes in this video: If you learn from defeat, you haven’t really lost. Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful. Failure is a detour, not a dead- end street. Remember that failure is an event, not a person. Video #4 – Zig Ziglar Quotes: Success at Home. In this video, I have complied four Zig Ziglar quotes about the importance of success in the marketplace as well as at home. In his distinctive style and from his Christian perspective, Zig offers his thoughts on how to have a successful life in business and otherwise. If you know Zig at all, you know how important this is to him. Here are the quotes in this video: I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles. People who have good relationships at home are more effective in the marketplace. The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty. The best way to make your spouse and children feel secure is not with big deposits in bank accounts, but with little deposits of thoughtfulness and affection in the “love account.”Zig Ziglar Quotes. It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly–until you can learn to do it well. Motivation gets you going and habit gets you there. You’ve got to be before you can do and do before you can have. Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile, and a grateful heart. Rich people have small TVs and big libraries, and poor people have small libraries and big TVs. A goal properly set is halfway reached. What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. Don’t become a wandering generality. Be a meaningful specific. Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker. You can succeed at almost anything for which you have unbridled enthusiasm. You don’t drown by falling in water; you only drown if you stay there. Ask yourself a question: Is my attitude worth catching? A lot of people quit looking for work as soon as they find a job. Building a better you is the first step to building a better America. I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles. If God would have wanted us to live in a permissive society He would have given us Ten Suggestions and not Ten Commandments. If you learn from defeat, you haven’t really lost. It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through. Little men with little minds and little imaginations go through life in little ruts, smugly resisting all changes which would jar their little worlds. Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the gotta have it scale. People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily. People who have good relationships at home are more effective in the marketplace. Statistics suggest that when customers complain, business owners and managers ought to get excited about it. The complaining customer represents a huge opportunity for more business. The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty. You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed in the costume of failure. You do not pay the price of success, you enjoy the price of success. You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win. Money won’t make you happy. Animation is the process of making the illusion of motion and change. Animators are artists who specialize in the creation of animation. Animation can be recorded with either analogue media, a flip book, motion picture film, video tape, digital media, including formats with animated GIF, Flash animation and digital video. To display animation, a digital camera, computer, or projector are used along with new technologies that are produced. Animation creation methods include the traditional animation creation method and those involving stop motion animation of two and three- dimensional objects, paper cutouts, puppets and clay figures. Images are displayed in a rapid succession, usually 2. History. The artifact bears five sequential images depicting a Persian Desert Ibex jumping up to eat the leaves of a tree. A thaumatrope (1. The phenakistoscope was invented simultaneously by Belgian Joseph Plateau and Austrian Simon von Stampfer in 1. The phenakistoscope consists of a disk with a series of images, drawn on radi evenly space around the center of the disk. John Barnes Linnett patented the first flip book in 1. The common flip book were early animation devices that produced an illusion of movement from a series of sequential drawings, animation did not develop further until the advent of motion picture film and cinematography in the 1. Animated feature- length films returned the highest gross margins (around 5. The individual frames of a traditionally animated film are photographs of drawings, first drawn on paper. To create the illusion of movement, each drawing differs slightly from the one before it. The animators' drawings are traced or photocopied onto transparent acetate sheets called cels. Today, animators' drawings and the backgrounds are either scanned into or drawn directly into a computer system. Various software programs are used to color the drawings and simulate camera movement and effects. The final animated piece is output to one of several delivery media, including traditional 3. Some animation producers have used the term . Traditionally animated films which were produced with the aid of computer technology include The Lion King (US, 1. The Prince of Egypt (US, 1. Akira (Japan, 1. 98. Spirited Away (Japan, 2. The Triplets of Belleville (France, 2. The Secret of Kells (Irish- French- Belgian, 2. Full animation refers to the process of producing high- quality traditionally animated films that regularly use detailed drawings and plausible movement, having a smooth animation. Fully animated films can be made in a variety of styles, from more realistically animated works those produced by the Walt Disney studio (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King) to the more 'cartoon' styles of the Warner Bros. Many of the Disney animated features are examples of full animation, as are non- Disney works, The Secret of NIMH (US, 1. The Iron Giant (US, 1. Nocturna (Spain, 2. Fully animated films are animated at 2. Limited animation uses fewer drawings per second, thereby limiting the fluidity of the animation. This is a more economic technique. Pioneered by the artists at the American studio United Productions of America, limited animation can be used as a method of stylized artistic expression, as in Gerald Mc. Boing- Boing (US, 1. Yellow Submarine (UK, 1. Japan. Its primary use, however, has been in producing cost- effective animated content for media for television (the work of Hanna- Barbera,Filmation, and other TV animation studios) and later the Internet (web cartoons). Rotoscoping is a technique patented by Max Fleischer in 1. The source film can be directly copied from actors' outlines into animated drawings. Some other examples are: Fire and Ice (US, 1. Heavy Metal (1. 98. Aku no Hana (2. 01. Live- action/animation is a technique combining hand- drawn characters into live action shots or live action actors into animated shots. Other examples include Who Framed Roger Rabbit (US, 1. Space Jam (US, 1. Osmosis Jones (US, 2. Stop motion animation. There are many different types of stop- motion animation, usually named after the medium used to create the animation. Examples of clay- animated works include The Gumby Show (US, 1. Films include Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were- Rabbit, Chicken Run and The Adventures of Mark Twain. Strata- cut animation, Strata- cut animation is most commonly a form of clay animation in which a long bread- like . D animation techniques tend to focus on image manipulation while 3. D techniques usually build virtual worlds in which characters and objects move and interact. Cinemagraphs are still photographs in the form of an animated GIF file of which part is animated. Final line advection animation is a technique used in 2d animation, to give artists and animators more influence and control over the final product as everything is done within the same department. The animator usually starts by creating a 3. D polygon mesh to manipulate. This process is called rigging and can be used in conjunction with keyframes to create movement. Other techniques can be applied, mathematical functions (e. These techniques fall under the category of 3. D dynamics. 3. D terms. Examples include, Skyland (2. France), The Iron Giant (1. An Audio- Animatron is different from an android- type robot in that it uses prerecorded movements and sounds, rather than responding to external stimuli. In 2. 00. 9, Disney created an interactive version of the technology called Autonomatronics. The animation illusion is created by putting the viewer in a linear motion, parallel to the installed picture frames. The concept and the technical solution, were invented in 2. Mihai Girlovan in Romania. Chuckimation is a type of animation created by the makers of the television series Action League Now! It is very ancient, and is believed to have originated 3. BC. Puppetry takes many forms, they all share the process of animating inanimate performing objects. Puppetry is used in almost all human societies both as entertainment . Most puppetry involves storytelling. Zoetrope is a device that produces the illusion of motion from a rapid succession of static pictures. The term zoetrope is from the Greek words . For example, William Kentridge is famous for his charcoal erasure films. The screen is lit from the side so that the pins cast shadows. The technique has been used to create animated films with a range of textural effects difficult to achieve with traditional cel animation. Sand animation: sand is moved around on a back- or front- lighted piece of glass to create each frame for an animated film. This creates an interesting effect when animated because of the lightcontrast. Flip book: a flip book (sometimes, especially in British English, called a flick book) is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change. Flip books are not always separate books, they appear as an added feature in ordinary books or magazines, often in the page corners. One thing live- action and animated feature- length films do have in common is that they are both extremely labor- intensive and have high production costs. It is relatively easy for a director to ask for one more take during principal photography of a live- action film, but every take on an animated film must be manually rendered by animators (although the task of rendering slightly different takes has been made less tedious by modern computer animation).
